Yellowstone 2011

We wanted to have Lucia see Yellowstone before too much snow arrived, so we made a quick trip. I think she had a fun time. We were able to see a few animals and Lucia was able to see snow for the first time! Our thanks to our friends Jay and Wendy for lending us their cabin.

It was so nice to see most of the family together in October. Sarah flew out; Mark had some work to do in Utah, Amy & Greg, Adam & Becca and Mom came over this evening. We were able to make our annual trip to see the Dodgers play a couple of weeks ago. There were fireworks after the game. What a great place to go. Love those Dodgers!!

Our 41st Anniversary in Monterey

After moving Josiah and Katie to Spokane we flew back to California and spent some time in Monterey to celebrate our 41st. We had a great time and our view from our room was beautiful. We could see down the beach. We also were able to have a lunch at our favorite spot for mexican food in San Juan Bautista before driving home.

It was fun seeing Josiah & Katie and kids last week. We made a quick trip and Georgie was having a Dance Recital that weekend. Really cute!

Coming home we hit a litte bit of a snow storm...Don't think we have ever seen snow stick of heavly to trees before. This was over Donner Pass !

Thanksgiving Dinner was quiet this year. Only had Steven, Shirley, Sam, Megan, Britany, Mom and us. Nice dinner though. LOVE THAT TURKEY. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

Grand Canyon- The end of our Anniversary Trip

We ended our trip at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Kind of a rustic cabin, but beautiful scenery. We had a nice dinner and left on Saturday for home. Really enjoyed our trip and all of the new memories.

We had a great time watching the Dodgers cream the Giants! Poor Giants didn't know what to do. I thought their fans were going to cry. We had great seats and cool weather. The first photo is Casey Blake's swing for a home run. Between he and Kemp's fantastic fielding, it was a fun game. You know, Dodger fans are so much better fans than Giant fans. We even watched a Giant's fan get kicked out!! Fantastic!!!

After visiting with Josiah and Katie, we spent a day in Monterey and then headed to Los Angeles. We couldn't wait to eat on Olvera Street. Mom was looking forward to Chicken Mole'. It was so fun having Sarah and Jason join Britany for her graduation. You can see how proud Sarah is of her sweet little daughter. It was fun spending the evening with everyone at dinner. We all went out to Macaroni Grill, then Britany went to her all night Senior Party. She said the school suprised everyone and loaded them up in school buses to take them to "Jack and Jill's". It's a place where they have bowling, arcades, lazer tag, guitar hero, and a lot more. She came home at 4 am with a box full of things. I think she even got a $10 gift certificate to the theater. She said she had a great time. Congratulations Brit! We are all so proud of you!

Mom and I made a trip this last week to see our newest little grandson....Jezden McCoy Galbraith. What a wonderful little boy. It was so much fun just holding him. The rest of the kids really love him too. They were constantly kissing him and rubbing his head. It was nice to be there for his blessing too. I had a great time playing with the kids. We had to leave a day early because there was a storm coming from California and we wanted to be home before it hit Utah. Glad we did. On the way out of town Jaron wanted to show us his school. He is in Kindergarten. I was suprised at Erin's pre school program that she is running from her home. She and Mark fixed up their playroom as a classroom for the kids. Looks great, Erin. We had a great time. Can't wait to see more grandkids!!!

We had a great time in California visiting Josiah & Katie... and loved seeing our sweet little Georgie! We played games, laughed, and ate a lot. The food was so great!! Katie went "all out" making more food than we could possibly eat. Thank you so much Katie!! We even sat around one night sharing our ideas for new inventions. That was fun. Christmas vacation in Monterey -2009

Mom and I were able to spend a couple of days in Monterey during Christmas. We ate at our favorite mexican restaurant in San Juan Baptista, bought snacks at Casa de Fruta, then on to Monterey. We stayed downtown in the Monterey Hotel (105 year old Hotel....no elevators....luckily, we stayed on the 2nd floor). We also got to see a light parade of boats in the harbor and some guy with pet birds on the warf. We had so much good food .....and now we are paying for it. What a great vacation!

Yellowstone National Park- Camping

We have had a really busy summer traveling around to different areas. Last week was Kansas City and this week we took grandma and Britany to Yellowstone. A friend of mine has a cabin just outside of the park so we were able to stay a few days there. We had a great time seeing the animals and beauty of the park. Just missed seeing a Grizzlie by a minute or so. But we did see eagles, buffalo, wolf, and elk. The cabin was great and we even spent a little time in the city of west yellowstone. They were having a celebration in the city and grandma & Britany tried singing with some street musicians! That was funny. We had a couple of thunder storms and a little rain while there. Didn't put up the top on the car though. We enjoyed the sprinkles. Our pictures turned out well. You can even see the colors of the hot springs and the steam of the geyers. Speaking of geyers....we did see old faithful. We had to wait a while, but it was worth it. What a great trip.

Well, Kind of. We had low tire in Denver, so we added some "Fix a Flat" and the next thing you know we blew out a tire. Had to wait about an hour to get it fixed. Looks like Ashley thought it was cool to breakdown.

While we were there in Kansas I looked up my father's cousin (Ken and Lou Hale). What a great visit we had. Talked a lot about some of the relatives and recalled some of stories about my great grandmother. That was fun. Ken and Lou....if you see this blog, thank you for letting us come and visit. You are very special to our family. Hope to see you next year.

I was able to get a few pictures of the inside (kitchen and bedroom). The house is a little small, but very nice. You can tell that the owner had put some time into improvements. Sarah was very happy. Lots of trees in her neighborhood and very shady. I think you have to have shade........I could barely stand the humidity. Sorry Sarah. Too warm for me.

On the way back to Denver we stopped in a little town in Kansas called Paxico. What a great place to look a antiques. The whole town was filled with little shops and great antiques to look at. Mom and I had fun.

Above was an old saloon in town. One of the oldest in the area. It even had a stage for performances.

We also saw this great train that was just leaving town.

We got back to Mark & Erin's house on the 4th of July. That evening there was a Tornado warning and were were able to see it beginning to form. It never really completely formed, but did have a pretty long tail. You can just barely see it over the top of the houses.

Our trip to southern california..Dodgers!

We had a great time this past week with Adam and Becca. We all went to see the Dodgers play...they won of course. When we arrived in L.A. we had to go down to Olvera Street for lunch. We found a place that served the best mexican food that we've had in a long time. There aren't too many places in Utah that serve great mexican food like that! Later that evening we sat in the "all you can eat" section at the game. Mom and I had to move to the section that Adam and Becca were sitting in because the fans around us were getting a little out of control with the language. The next day we arrived at Magic Mountain. It was pretty warm during the day, but the evening was great. Becca talked me into going on the Goliath roller coaster with a 255 foot drop. I think I lost a year of my life on that coaster. Mom and I also rode the Colossus wooden roller coaster. Lots of fun. On the way home we stopped by Las Vegas for the night. We walked our legs off seeing all of he attractions. I think we were all pretty tired by the time we got home. Can't wait to go again!

Everything is going along pretty well. They put up the drywall yesterday and next should be the stucco. Still on schedule and should be closing around the 21st of July. This is cool because I get the third garage for my studio. Can't wait.

We had dinner in the family room of our new unfinished house today. Sarah performed for us on her violin. Thank you Sarah...it was beautiful. (Sorry that her picture is blurry). Memorial Day Road Trip across the Pony Express Route in Utah

We had a great time on Memorial Day following the Pony Express Route across Utah into Nevada. We traveled about 140 miles of dirt and gravel roads. We kept moving so that grandma didn't have time to see every bush and rock across the desert. Lots of fun though. I took us about 7 hours. Even did a little off roading.

Can't find our camera to down load anything since the move. You all know that we are at grandma's until the house is finished. Lots of fun!!!! It's interesting how we try and avoid letting grandma know anything about what is going on. I'm not sure why, but I guess it's because it takes so long to explain anything because of her hearing. Anyway, I have been trying to ride the bike to work, but grandma always seems to be awake when I get up. I've even tried to get up earlier, but nothing works. If I go out to warm up the cycle, she's there on the porch with her hands on her hips and won't go back in the house.....so I have been driving the pickup lately. She's so sweet, but a little agravating at times. We are very grateful to have such a nice room in the house and even were able to put our own bed in the room. Ahh, such comforts. We met with the builder the other day and it looks like they will start framing tomorrow (Friday). The expected finish date is around the 25th of July. Mom and I drive out every day to see what is happening on the lot. Today they were clearing the lot and moving dirt around the foundation. Mothers Day was nice for my sweetheart. She heard from all of her sweet kids and had a nice dinner at Adam and Becca's. Of course there is always breakfast in bed and flowers.

In the morning there were deer outside of our window. If you look closely you can see them going up the walk toward the mountain. We had a great time with just a few minor adjustments in our original plans.

Well, we had an interesting Christmas this year. Mark and Erin didn't really enjoy much of it because they both got really sick and ended up in the emergency room Christmas Eve. I don't think they remember much of Christmas Day. Kathleen didn't feel well either and was in bed for a day or two. We did manage to have great dinners and fun playing games with those that felt well enough. We also had a beautiful blanket of snow to give us a white christmas. Mom has been decorating for Christmas. We love the Owl in the mantle. She is decorating in silver this year. The house looks beautiful. Can't wait for everyone to get here.

It's that time of year again. We talked to Erin today and she wanted me to show Jaron what I painted on the window this year. How do you like my witch, Jaron?? Gretchen (the cat) wanted to be in the picture too. Don't you think she adds something to the halloween theme? I think the witch needs more teeth. Oh well, it's a little too cold to do anything outside now. It snowed this morning (Sunday), but most of it has melted now. We hope all of our little grandchildren have a fun Halloween. We are looking forward to seeing their pictures.

Greg and Amy joined us in Las Vegas this last weekend for a reunion with my cousin Dean and Carol and family. We had not seen each other in over 40 years. What a great time we had. I only wish that Shirley could have made it. They are my my cousins on my mother's side. Dean, Carol and Shirley are my Aunt Rose's children. Made me sad to leave them. I hope we can get together again soon. It was my birthday and we all went out to dinner together. What a great weekend and birthday present. I'm sure this would have made my mother happy!

My sweetheart decided that it was time to "warm up" the living room a little. She was nervous that the darker color might be too much for the room, but I think it came out great. She's pleased. Our home is really coming together.....thanks to her talents!
